About Us
Hookmoor Ancient Coins is the online store of Lee Toone Ancient Coins. Lee has been involved in numismatics for over forty years. For the last thirty of these he has concentrated on Roman numismatics and numismatic books. He divides his time between numismatic research and dealing. He has maintained a presence at major Yorkshire coin shows for several years and this website is a natural extension to these activities.
He specialises in the coinage of Roman Britain and has recently published a definitive catalogue of the issues of the Roman mint of London from AD 296 to 326. He is now working on a collectors’ guide to Romano-British coinage and “A History of York in Fifty Coins”. He would be grateful for any contributions of new material towards these projects.
